The key word here is to treat yourself with respect, because treating yourself with respect means treating others with respect, too. Treating yourself with respect and treating others with respect is the way to make friends on this planet. People are not your enemies. People are not your slaves. People are no different than you, and they can treat you the same. Treat your friends, family, and yourself the same.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to treat others the same. What you treat yourself with, you treat others with. You also need to treat others the same way you treat yourself. We all have a tendency to treat others differently than we treat ourselves, and that’s a problem. It’s one thing to be kind or respectful of other humans, but when you treat yourself as though you’re a slave, you turn yourself into a slave.
People tend to treat other people the same way they treat themselves. If you treat others the same way you treat yourself, you will treat yourself the same way you treat others. You will treat your employees the same way you treat your friends and family. You will treat your employees the same way you treat your friends and family. You will treat your employees as though they are you, the same way you treat your friends and family.
“The same way others treat themselves!” This statement holds true for all things. Your health, your relationships, your money, your relationships, and your money.
If you treat others the way you treat yourself, then you are treating yourself the same way.
When others treat you the same way they treat their families, friends, and colleagues, this is called a “compassionate” or “positive” attitude toward them. This is the attitude you want your employees to have, what you want your coworkers to see when you think they are being nice to you, and the other employees around you to see when you treat them in the same way you treat your friends and family.
If you treat others the way you treat yourselves, you will treat everyone else the same way.
It’s like we treat each other differently depending on how we treat others. It’s not a matter of how we treat our enemies, it’s a matter of how we treat ourselves.
You guys are probably going to be asking a lot of this in your medical training, but if you don’t get it and you don’t want to, it’s totally okay. I’m not doing this for the sake of being politically correct, but I believe there’s a lot of medical terminology that can be applied without causing offense. At the very least, you should be aware of a few.
We will probably have a discussion about the difference between anorexia and bulimia in Chapter 8.
